The Danish and Australian teams received royal support ahead of official racing on Saturday, when they were joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess of Mary of Denmark.
Both royals got to experience the power and speed of SailGP’s turbocharged F50s first hand as part of a special Royal race, which took place ahead of official racing.
Crown Prince Frederik joined Nicolai Sehested and the Danish team while his wife and Aussie Crown Princess Mary stepped on board Australia’s Flying Roo.
Both had the chance to take the wheel as the F50s tore around the racecourse, but Crown Princess Mary’s sailing skills outweighed those of her husband and the Australian team finished over the line first.
As part of their visit to the ROCKWOOL Denmark Sail Grand Prix, the royal couple toured SailGP’s F50 tech area and met with Sehested and Australia driver Tom Slingsby.
Official racing continued in a condensed racing format of four fleet races and a podium-deciding Final, with New Zealand sealing its second victory in a row.
